1- select image and print. Thicker lines are better. Maybe like this:
2- hold paper up to window. Color in image with pencil on reverse side of paper.
3- tape image to gutted pumpkin as smoothly as possible. Rub paper with blunt tool to transfer pencil image.
4- work section by section. Outline area to shave out with sharp paring knife. Carefully use same knife to peel off pumpkin skin within the outline. (Easier to make small rectangles in the area and pry out each small section)
5- when all done, I used blunt end of a wooden skewer to smooth out the pulp so it doesn't look choppy from the paring knife.
6- you can shave the inside of pumpkin to make the flesh thinner so light comes through well.
